My essay about Winnie the Pooh
The popular children's icon named Winnie The Pooh started out not quite as cute and cuddly as he is now. He was originally the pet grizzly bear of a Canadian Soldier, who got called off to the first World War. He had named the bear "Winnie" after his home town of Winnipeg, Manitoba. In his desire to make sure that his beloved pet Winnie would be taken very good care of until he came back, he donated him to a local zoo for safe keeping. After the war was over, and the soldier didn't come to claim his bear back,
Winnie was put out on display with all the other animals.
One day some years later, a little boy came to visit the zoo with his father. The instant he saw Winnie, he fell in love with him. The boy begged his father to let him take Winnie home with them, but of course that was completely out of the question. So, the boy and his father made a
compromise, the father promised to write some stories about Winnie and one of his associates, name E.H. Shepard would draw the pictures. The boy then asked if he would call the bear in the stories Winnie The Pooh. He couldn't give a
reason why he wanted the name Pooh, and his father didn't really care. He would agree to almost anything to make the boy leave the bear exhibit so they could go look at the rest of the animals, and then go home.
The stories became very popular and soon started to be professionally published. The demand for the tales of the cute, friendly bear of very little
brain written by A.A. Milne was soaring. Series of stories and poems soon came out, and the demand was getting bigger and bigger by the day.

Some of the most popular stories are still "The Blustery Day","Winnie The Pooh and The Hunny Tree" and "Pooh and The Birthday Picnic". These stories have been around for so long Winnie The Pooh even has a
nickname, Pooh Bear. Winnie is also the star of countless movies, books,
poems, and has his or one of his woodland companions image has been on
almost every toy imaginable, and they are showing no signs of slowing
down any time soon. Every generation loves Pooh Bear and his friends a
little more, and some people, like me, never grow out of it.
